View from the window of a high-rise building. The best views from the window
I've seen a lot of views in New York, but this one is the coolest so far. Not so long ago there was a story about - a penthouse on the top floors was sold for $ 100 million. So the other day I had a unique opportunity to visit this house.
Why unique? Because it is simply impossible to get to such a place without knowing one of the tenants. You will not find photographs of the interiors of many expensive and famous New York houses simply because they are not available on the Internet. Something may appear during the sale, but even that is rare and will be filmed in such a way that getting an idea of how it really does not work out there.
1. Outside view.
2. Outwardly, I don't like One57 at all. But inside he turned out to be much prettier than outside. Calm, peaceful interiors in soft colors, everything is very laconic and stylish at the same time. There is a lot of stone and metal in the decoration. There are screens on the wall that work like living abstract paintings. A lot of black and dark brown, but gloom or lack of light is not felt. On the contrary, you go inside from the noisy 57th and find yourself in a calm and quiet place, where almost nothing reminds of the bustle outside the window. I can’t show more pictures of the hall, because you simply cannot take pictures there.
3. Lift hall on the floor. The house is not yet fully finished, so everywhere you can find blue marks, meaning that some kind of flaw has been found there that needs to be fixed. It could be a small chip, scratch, paint smudge, or something else. A special person in charge of quality walks around the house, who with manic zeal is looking for something else to find fault with.
4. There are few apartments in the house (92 in total) and when you are inside it seems that you live there alone. Somehow everything is so planned that when you get out of the elevator you do not even see your neighbor's door, but go along a long corridor to your own. Moreover, there are three elevators in the house. That is, future residents will not have to wait long for it. In large apartment buildings in Manhattan, an elevator is often the weak link and any malfunction in its operation leads to huge problems with access to the apartment.
The door to the apartment at the end of the hallway. As you can see, the carpet has already been laid, and the walls still need to be finished. The carpet is thick and soft. No steps are heard at all.
5. The lower floors of the building are occupied by the Park Hayat Hotel and this gives apartment residents a completely new level of comfort. They can use all the infrastructure available to hotel guests: swim in the pool, go to the fitness center, wash clothes, order food from the restaurant and even clean their apartment. Those. you live in your own apartment with the comfort of an upscale hotel. Considering that the majority of owners of super-expensive real estate in New York are not local at all, and I visit the city on short visits, then this format should be in great demand. This is the interior of the hotel spa. Everything inside is made in about the same style.
The residents also have a library with billiards and a huge aquarium, event rooms, reception rooms, a small concert hall, a room for washing animals after a walk, a private fitness center and a yoga studio. For residents and guests who do not want increased attention to their person, there is a separate entrance from the next street.
6. The hotel's pool, which plays music from nearby Carnegie Hall. On the loungers lay caricatured bourgeois uncles. Belly, bald head and a complete lack of attractiveness. They were accompanied by naturally luxurious blondes and brunettes.
7. The door to the apartment for $ 22 million. The door is the most common wooden one.
8. This is the first apartment in New York in which I got lost. It has five rooms, area 322 square meters... There are also a bunch of closets, utility rooms and bathrooms and all have almost identical doors. The layout is classic: small bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and a huge living room with gorgeous views of Central Park.
9. One of the guest rooms. They are traditionally small.
10. In each window from floor to ceiling.
11. An empty apartment with high ceilings has its own appeal. By the way, pay attention to the finish. The walls and ceiling are painted with white paint. The floor is covered with parquet, which is painted black. All doors are also black.
12. Bathroom in one of the guest bedrooms. The apartment is rented in this form. If you want to remodel - your right, but you get it this way.
13. I traditionally shoot a lot of details, because I know that there are those who are interested in them and will have something to discuss. Now you will know what kind of plumbing is installed in the most expensive house in New York.
14. The apartment has a separate kitchen, which is rare in New York. And even with a hood. This is the first time I ever see this.
15. I want to say that in general, the kitchen and bathrooms are better made than everything else in the apartment. The rooms have something to complain about, but the kitchens and baths are almost impeccable.
16. Interesting lamps in the form of drops.
17. Kitchen tap.
18. The master bathroom is undoubtedly one of the jewels of this apartment. With such a look, you will forget that you soaped your head.
19. A tap is like a microphone. You look out the window and sing about how everything is good in your life.
20. Two washbasins so as not to push in the morning. The toilet and shower are made in the form of separate rooms (see the video), apparently so that you are not distracted by sight, but do what you came for
21. We move to the main room in the apartment. Without him, everything else would be of no interest to anyone.
22. This is the living room. In the photo, she seems smaller than in life. In fact, it is huge. In fact, you can only live in it.
23. And here is what everyone is buying for.
24. That apartment in which I was able to visit is located in the area of 50 floors. In fact, this is the middle of the house, but the views from its windows I would call excellent. In the apartments below, the view will be obscured by neighboring buildings. Above, some of the details are already lost, and people turn into almost imperceptible points.
25. If I lived in such an apartment, the first thing I would do would be to buy a telescope and observe the life of the city around. You almost feel like a deity sitting on a cloud and with a grin watching the useless bustle below.
26. The windows in the apartment open, but at a very small angle. Sufficient to let you into the room fresh air and not enough to fall out. In our case, this became a problem for shooting. The glasses are a little dusty and glare. Rescued soap dishes that could be pushed into the slot.
27. Let's see what can be seen from the windows. Upper Manhattan and even the Bronx can be seen.
28. Building of Essex House built in 1931. The sign was placed on the roof a few years later. Throughout its history, the hotel has changed owners many times. Now it is owned by Strategic Hotels & Resorts and operated by Marriott. Some of the rooms on the upper floors have been converted into residential apartments. From 1969 until his death in 1971, Igor Stravinsky lived in Essex House.
29. Taking this opportunity, you can look into someone's window. I think there is a young bachelor living here.
30. And here is the old woman.
31.. The 37-storey residential building with two chimneys and a copper roof was built in 1937. Construction began in the midst of the Great Depression, but six months later the developer went bankrupt and abandoned the property. Construction was resumed only 6 years later.
The house went down in history as the site of one famous suicide. In 1938, 33-year-old Dorothy Hale, a beauty with an unsettled personal life, an actress with a failed career and a socialite with an unfortunate fate, threw herself out of the window of her studio apartment on the sixteenth floor. A month after her suicide, Claire Luce, wife of Time magazine founder Henry Luce, ordered Frida Kahlo a portrait of Hale, which she wanted to present to her grieving mother. “No one should forget her,” she said to Frida. She understood the request in her own way and drew a picture in which the whole process of Hale's suicide was shown in stages, from the moment she went to the window, how she flew down and how she lay on the sidewalk covered in blood. Luce was so shocked by what she saw that she hid the painting in a vault and did not show it to anyone for many years. It remained there until 1960, when it was anonymously donated to the Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
33. Unusual roof of a 38-storey hotel Barbizon (now the Trump Park apartment building), built in 1930. The roof was made of reinforced concrete ribs, the space between which was covered with glass tiles. During the day they shone in the sun, and at night they were illuminated from the inside. During World War II, lighting was banned, and the roof was rebuilt and made gilded. Now it is painted with regular yellow paint.
34. Barbizon (from the Barbizon School) was built as an inexpensive apartment hotel for single women (rooms with a private bathroom for long stays) who came to New York for a new life and could find themselves a vocation in acting, painting, sculpture, dance, music, etc. That is, single ladies received not only inexpensive housing and a new profession.
Barbizon became the first apartment hotel in America to combine guest rooms with concert and exhibition halls, studios for artists and sculptors, rooms for dance classes and much more. Men were not allowed further than the concert hall. In this format, Barbizon existed until 1980, when it was bought out by new investors and turned into an ordinary hotel, where everyone could rent a room. After that, it changed owners several more times, until in 2005 it was converted into a residential building and renamed Trump Park.
He moved to the USA 10 years ago and has been flying for 10 years! He also flew in Russia, was even a contender for the cosmonaut corps. Sergei offered to fly over New York in a small "Cessna", the same one on which Matthias Rust landed in Red Square in 87. Well, how could I refuse such a flight? We made two laps over Manhattan. Shooting at night from a small plane is very difficult, I can tell you. But it seems like a lot of good shots turned out) Look!

02. View of Brighton
03. And this is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, which connects the New York districts of Brooklyn and Staten Island.
04. Manhattan is getting closer!
05.
06. This is the upper West Side. On the left is Riverside Park, in the distance is the huge Central Park.
07. Downtown. High building Is the first building of the World Trade Center, the Freedom Tower. It is the fourth tallest skyscraper in the world - 541 meters (417 meters to the roof).
08. By the way, the WTC is not only twin towers, as some think, it is 7 buildings. The Twin Towers, which were destroyed on 11 September 15 years ago, were an architectural dominant, but not the only buildings in the center.
09. The Triangle Building is a 10 Hudson Yards complex under construction. The Madison Square Garden sports complex, the home arena of the NHL and NBA teams, glows pink.

24. Very beautiful Queensboro Bridge. It is also sometimes called the 59th Street Bridge, because its end in Manhattan is located between 59th and 60th Streets.
25.
26. Quarters for the poor)
27. Do you know why skyscrapers are concentrated only in some parts of Manhattan? All because of the soil. In the central part of the island, soils do not allow the construction of high-rise buildings, so the skyscrapers are located in the lower and upper parts, and between them there are ordinary low-rise buildings.
28.
29. In the foreground with the crosses "prajekta" - social housing. It used to be quite dangerous to go there. Even now, it is better not to walk in these areas at night.
"Prajects" are always built big residential complex, very gloomy and dark. They were built in different years. New York is generally a record holder for social housing. And this is a big problem on the one hand. Having received an apartment in such a house, people pay rent for about $ 300 and do not want to do anything. After all, the next step is to rent a house at a commercial rate, and this is already from $ 1,000 per month. Why would a person work, achieve something in life, if he has almost free housing by New York standards? They live in such high-rise buildings for generations. But politicians like it, because they are voters with whom it is convenient to work. So they are in no hurry to settle them.
30. Brooklyn to the left, Manhattan to the right.

32. "Prajekta" below.
