Benefits for large families when entering school: how the state helps
Large families will be able to count on support from the state
When a family has one child and two parents, adults most often manage to provide for themselves and their offspring without any problems. It is more difficult to cope with two children financially. But when three or more sons and daughters are brought up at the same time, she has the right to receive the status of a large family.
Thanks to this, adult family members will be able to count on support from the state, including material and financial. To obtain the appropriate status, you need to contact the social protection authority at your place of residence. Together with an application and an identity document, you will need to present a birth certificate for each child, possibly documents confirming their education in an educational institution.
After all, only a family where minors are brought up can be considered large. After receiving the status, the community unit is entitled to guarantees and benefits related to payment for utility services, the purchase of certain goods, and so on. But do large families have benefits when a child - one or more - is enrolled in school?
What are the benefits for large families when enrolling in school
According to Article 43 of the Russian Constitution, everyone in the country has the right to receive a general education. Moreover, a citizen is obliged to unlearn at least nine classes. The obligation to provide him with this opportunity is imposed on the parents or on other official representatives who replace their roles.
But the main thing is that, regardless of the financial situation of the family and the number of other minors, each child will be able to unlearn at school. It turns out that he has no barriers to receiving secondary general education. Then, in principle, do the future from a large family need benefits?
In fact, in some families the problem of sending a child to school is rather acute. The fact is that since 2012, the constituent entities of the country have gradually begun to adopt such a provision of the Law on Education, which regulates the procedure for admission to school at the place of registration. In other words, which school is located in the place closest to the official place of residence, the child should go there.
Of course, there will always be representatives of that category of parents who are sure that their son or daughter in a particular school will not be able to learn anything. And if earlier there was an opportunity to send a child to any secondary educational institution, today this is unlikely to be done.
The question is especially relevant at a time when gymnasiums and lyceums are gaining popularity in cities. As a rule, they are a modified secondary school, in which several sections have been added for additional training, where a team with an impeccable reputation is selected and where they can provide services for an additional fee.
The prestige of education in such an institution is an order of magnitude higher and more noticeable than in a regular school. For this reason, parents will strive to place their child in a better place. But - alas! - the administration of such establishments is unlikely to meet the needs of adults.
Since there is not a single norm in Russian legislation that guarantees benefits for a large family when entering school. Getting a secondary education is not an inaccessible prerogative, and therefore no state support is provided.
If a parent really thinks that his child should study only in a gymnasium or lyceum, and there the enrollment has already ended, it is better to wait until next year and enroll in a preparatory group. Yesterday's kindergarten graduate will have time to complete the first quarter program in a regular school over the summer. And his chances of admission to the prestigious MAOU will increase significantly. But the status of a large family will not play its role here.

Material support measures for schoolchildren from large families
Despite the fact that a child with a large number of brothers and sisters will have to enter school on general conditions, his financial situation during the period of secondary education will be supported by the state, or rather, by municipal authorities and protection departments.
Families with many children can count on a whole list of assistance measures if one of their children, or maybe several, are enrolled in school. Such support measures include:
- Free travel on public transport, not only within your city, but also on suburban buses and trains. Parents also have the right to free travel around the city, but only those who study in a comprehensive school are able to ride to a neighboring city.
- Free meals - breakfast and lunch - on the territory of a secondary educational institution or a secondary specialized one. In this case, the educational institution itself should spend funds on the provision of rations at the expense of internal funds. It should be noted that this benefit applies only to receiving free breakfasts and lunches. For an afternoon snack on an extended period, for example, you will have to pay.
- Obtaining free school and sports uniforms at least once a year. Public organizations in a number of regions of the country go further, providing not only sets of clothes, but also educational supplies, backpacks, as well as elementary school electronics.
- Stay in a museum or other cultural institution is free at least once a month.
As for the benefits for admission directly, they concern only those cases when the child is sent not to a secondary general education, but to a preschool institution. In such a situation, indeed, parents with many children will be in priority over the rest.
What documents to provide and how to issue a number of benefits
How to get social support measures for large families
To receive measures of social support from the state, it is enough to contact the department of social protection at the place of residence. One of the parents must present:
- your statement;
- birth certificates for all children;
- certificates from the place of study of each;
- a certificate of a large family.
In some cases, only the last document may be sufficient. To get it, you need to contact the social protection center or a multifunctional window and provide birth certificates of children, a document on marriage, an extract from the house book, which indicates how many people and what age live in the same territory with the applicant.
As a rule, it takes less than a day for certificates of a large family. After that, this document can be applied for the provision of other payments and guarantees.
According to Presidential Decree No. 431, members of large families have several more types of benefits. For example, more favorable conditions for obtaining a loan, obtaining a land plot, free medicines for children under 6 years old. However, the benefits do not relate so much to the sphere of secondary general education. It is believed that it is absolutely accessible, and therefore everyone can get it.
