The tallest house in China, how many floors. China skyscrapers
In China, the construction of the previously announced "tallest building in the world" has officially stopped.
Work on the Sky City skyscraper - the tallest building in the world - was halted almost immediately after construction began. The government decree said that contractor Broad Group did not receive "any building permits," according to the Chinese newspaper Xiaoxiang Morning Post.
According to the project, the 838-meter building was supposed to become the tallest in the world, breaking the height record by 10 meters, which has been held by the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai for several years.
Sky City was supposed to take four months to build, not counting the foundations; nine if you count the bureaucratic delays, the Broad Group said. According to the preliminary schedule, the building would be ready by April 2014, and in May or June up to 30 thousand people could have settled in Sky City.
The Broad Group, whose main business is manufacturing air conditioners, ran a massive publicity campaign promising to finish the building quickly, on time, and within a $ 1.5 billion budget. Some experts from the very beginning were critical of the idea: according to them, it is very problematic, if not possible at all, to build a building of this height in a given period of time, meeting all safety regulations. The official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party called the idea "blind worship in front of skyscrapers" and expressed doubts about the need for a "heavenly city."
China is home to three of the ten tallest buildings in the world. Also, the list of the tallest "residential" skyscrapers includes:
The aforementioned Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE (828 meters)
The name translated from Arabic means "Khalifa Tower". Built in the form of a stalagmite, the tower has its own inner park and several boulevards, and the surface area of the skyscraper is equal to the total area of 17 football fields.
Abraj al-Beit Towers in Saudi Arabia (601 meters)
The Royal Clock Towers complex is located directly opposite the entrance to the al-Haram mosque, in the courtyard of which is the Kaaba, the main shrine of Islam. Most of the building is occupied by a hotel that can accommodate about 100 thousand of the 5 million pilgrims who come here annually.
Taipei 101, Taiwan (508 meters)
The building has the fastest elevators in the world - their speed is 60 km / h. To keep a skyscraper weighing 700 thousand tons in case of a hurricane or earthquakes that are frequent for this area, the engineers installed a huge pendulum ball inside the building - with its help the tower will be able to withstand even with sufficiently strong earthquakes. The builders issued a "guarantee" for two and a half thousand years in advance.
Shanghai World Financial Center, PRC (492 meters)
For its original appearance all over the world the center is unofficially called "opener". During the construction, architects and engineers took into account the sad experience of the catastrophe on September 11, when people who were above the floor on which the fire occurred could not go down. On every twelfth floor of the building, there are special sections where, in case of an emergency, people can take refuge before the arrival of rescuers.
International Commerce Center, Hong Kong (484 meters)
The tallest building in Hong Kong has its own observatory, a five-star hotel and the "highest" swimming pool in the world.
Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (451.9 meters)
Two towers were built at the same time by different construction companies to create competition, but, despite this, are completely identical to each other. The towers are interconnected by a covered bridge, which ensures the fire safety of the building.
Nanjing Greenland Financial Center, Nanjing, PRC (450 meters)
The third tallest building in the PRC; literally the name translates as " High building"Purple Peak" in Nanjing ".
Willis Tower, USA (442.1 meters)
The top of the Willis Tower is considered the highest point in the state of Illinois, and due to the somewhat asymmetrical design, which puts stress on the foundation, the building is tilted 10 centimeters to the west.
The Chinese surprised the world again: this time with a record-breaking fast construction of a skyscraper. In Changsha, a 57-story tower was built in just 19 days.
The secret of the company Broad Sustainable Buildings (BSB), which built the Mini Sky City skyscraper, lies in the technology of assembling the building structure from steel modules. Simply put, the tower was erected on the principle of a LEGO constructor from blocks that were made at the factory.
Usage ready-made structures reduced the need for concrete, the delivery of which would have required at least 15 thousand trucks. Thus, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of environmental pollution in the construction area.
Mini Sky City has an area of 180 thousand square meters. It will house 800 apartments, as well as a large office space for 4 thousand people.
Such a speed of construction does not affect the quality of work, BSB assured. The modular skyscraper is resistant even to earthquakes of magnitude 9!
One of the most important features of Mini Sky City, unlike other skyscrapers in Changsha, is the active use of green technologies. For example, triple air purification is used here, both indoors and outdoors. And four-level double-glazed windows can cut carbon dioxide emissions into the air by about 12 tons compared to other skyscrapers of similar size.
The steel module construction technology developed by BSB engineers has been applied in the past. The tallest building built was a 30-story hotel in Hunan province, assembled in 15 days in 2012. Then the cost of building one square meter high-rise buildings were about $ 1000.
BSB's plans for the future are no less ambitious: the company announced its readiness to build a 200-storey Sky City skyscraper with a height of 838 meters in just 90 days. The exact date of the start of construction has not yet been announced.

China continues to amaze the world with its architectural achievements. To the most long glass bridge and the second tallest skyscraper the largest skyscraper bridge in the world will soon be added - a horizontal tower, raised to a height of 250 m.
Another Chinese miracle is being built by CapitaLand in Chongqing. The author of the project is the architect Moshe Safdi. The horizontal skyscraper, called the Conservatory, is a curved structure supported by four 250 m high towers. Two more “skyscrapers” are being built nearby - 350 m each. All buildings will be linked by overhead passages. There will be eight towers in the Raffles City Chongqing project. They have a mixed purpose - they will house apartments, offices, retail space and hotels. The conservatory will perform recreational functions: there will be an infinity pool, gardens and observation decks.
The horizontal tower is structurally a steel frame weighing 12 thousand tons, filled with glass and metal panels. The construction will require 3200 glass panes and 4800 aluminum panels. The CapitaLand press release explains what stages the construction will go through. The whole structure will be assembled from 9 segments. Four of them will be assembled at once on the spot - on each of the four support towers. The three intermediate segments will be welded to the ground and lifted into place by hydraulic jacks. The two outermost segments will be assembled from short sections at the site of installation.
The installation of the skyscraper tunnel frame is planned to be completed by the middle of this year. The remaining phases - from glazing to tree planting - will be completed next year, when the building is expected to open.
Development at Raffles City Chongqing is LEED Gold certified. To reduce energy consumption for air conditioning, measures are provided to reduce the absorbed heat, an effective irrigation system. Also, great attention is paid to the disposal of construction waste and the use of recycled materials.
Security measures, including seismic and wind resistance, for the entire building complex are being developed by the engineering firm Arup.
Working in a large company is not only a busy work schedule and frequent business trips, but also an opportunity to see the world. Our firm cooperates with one Chinese company, so several times a year I go to. The country, in my opinion, is very contrasting. I have traveled a lot around the world, but in China, I assure you, there is something to see.
Most impressive are the tall skyscrapers, the tops of which go high into the sky. Such buildings, I boldly call works of art. They absolutely cannot be compared with ordinary houses that we are used to seeing in our cities. They look amazing. Tons of metal and glass, interesting designs. As a result, we see modern buildings towering hundreds of meters above our heads. The view that opens up above is simply breathtaking. By the way, if the height of a building is less than 150 meters, then it can no longer be called a skyscraper.
Three of the tallest structures in China:
- Shanghai Tower;
- The World Financial Center in Shanghai (Shanghai World Financial Center);
- International Commerce Center in Hong Kong.
The Shanghai Tower is not only the tallest building in China, but also very, very beautiful. Just imagine, its height is 632 meters. The building has 131 floors. This tower did not take so long to build. The entire period of its creation lasted from 2008 to 2015. Tourists can climb to the very top, there are special observation platforms. I think such a walk in the clouds is not for those who are afraid of heights. The tower itself has a lot of interesting things: restaurants, galleries, hotels and more. In the evening, the tower shines with a million lights, the view is simply stunning. If you ever go to
