PrivatBank launched the first in Ukraine mass secure payment system using AirPay, which will work on any smartphone and with most POS terminals operating in retail outlets.
Unlike other contactless systems, AirPay does not require the modernization of the point-of-sale terminals or the presence of a special device for the buyer. The service works with any Android smartphones or iPhones. To pay for purchases through AirPay, it is enough for the outlet to be equipped with a PrivatBank POS terminal, and the application installed on the buyer's smartphone.
PrivatBank terminals are installed in 70% of outlets in Ukraine. At the moment, more than 3 thousand retail outlets have already been connected to the AirPay payment technology, where equipment from PrivatBank is installed. In the near future, the bank plans to connect 20,000 more outlets, and in the future, all 90,000 outlets throughout the country will receive the new functionality.

One of the advantages of this technology is that the client does not need to hand the card over to the cashier or waiter, which means that the card details cannot be intercepted. The application independently determines the model of the POS terminal and chooses one of 2 payment methods:
Contactless payment - the client independently completes the purchase within the application, and the check, in the confirmation of payment, is printed on the terminal of the point of sale. The whole operation takes up to 30 seconds;
Payment by code - for some terminal models, the application generates a payment code consisting of 3 digits. The cashier must go to the Service menu on the terminal, select the "payment by code" item and enter the code. In this case, it takes 1-2 seconds to complete the transaction.
After downloading the application, the client is prompted to set a 4-digit password and configure automatic activation of geolocation within AirPay. Then everything is simple - you need to choose one of the offered stores, the card from which you want to write off and the amount of payment.
To activate the application, you need a PrivatBank card, a “Universal” card can be issued at the bank for free. You can add cards of any Ukrainian banks to the AirPay wallet, and make payments without the card itself.
