Every year, tens and hundreds of thousands of Americans receive from the IRS cash payments with tax refund. As a rule, these payments reach from several hundred to several thousand dollars per person. Typically, a significant portion of American taxpayers try to save or invest their income. sums of money tax deductions.
However, nearly a third of US households simply spend their tax refund payments right away, especially if the IRS transfers the money directly to the household's bank account. Despite the modest attempts made by taxpayers to save these payments received cash as if by themselves spent on the current financial needs of households.
To prepare residents for the effects of financial crises and to encourage taxpayers to keep at least a portion of their tax refunds received, Doorways to Dreams (D2D), an American non-profit group, organized and introduced a program called SaveYourRefund (save your tax refund). As stated on the organization's website of the same name, this program is aimed at taxpayers with low income and is intended to be an incentive-based reward that encourages tax users to keep a portion of their tax deductions, and also potentially win cash prizes.
How to keep your tax deduction and enter to win
According to information posted on the SaveYourRefund website, tax members who choose to participate in the program will have a 101 chance to win one of the 100 weekly giveaways of $100 and one grand prize of $35,000.
In order to become a member of SaveYourRefund, it is enough for a taxpayer to fill out one of the forms with a tax return called Form 8888, and highlight the part tax refund to save.
Form 8888 was developed by the D2D Foundation in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department. This form is built right into the submission process tax return and allows all US tax users to automatically save a portion of their tax refund with one simple step.
The organization's free website SaveYourRefund.com/enter invites the taxpayer to use Form 8888 and deposit at least $50 in a savings account to enter the weekly and grand prize draw.
According to the SaveYourRefund website, this program was launched as a way to give Americans incentives to save and prepare for financial crisis. "Annual return federal tax is the largest amount of cash many American households receive throughout the year, often amounting to up to 20% of a family's annual income.
“Each taxpayer has a unique opportunity to allocate savings with cash flow in tax time. tax time is also the point at which developers start thinking about their financial decisions."

Quite often, owners or managers of commercial real estate need to carry out a comprehensive reconstruction of existing office space. In such cases, customers would like to get some idea of the cost of the upcoming construction / repair work in advance. The question arises, does the customer need to receive several offers (bids) from potential contractors for work at a certain price?
Professional builders in such cases answer that yes, in the end it is preferable for the customer to receive several requests for execution from contractors construction works. But then the experts add that this is not the most important issue and not at all what the customer needs to make a decision at the initial stage.
According to construction experts, if the customer plans to build or repair a commercial building, then for this there are two types of assessments of future construction. As a rule, customers are advised to have at least a general idea of the advantages and disadvantages of both methods.
The first method of estimating construction or repair work is called the "budget quotation" and is a rough estimate of the cost of construction / repair. As a rule, the budget quotation is prepared without taking into account detailed information about the quality or type of building materials used.
The second way to evaluate construction or repair work is called a "contract bid" (contract bid). In essence, this is a price offer at which the contractor is ready to perform construction / repair work. Typically, a contract bid is based on a complete set of drawings and/or general specifications.
Construction experts recommend that clients first obtain a construction/repair budget quote from at least one reputable and reliable contractor.
The question may arise, why is this necessary and is it necessary at all? As an explanation, one can refer to such an example from the American construction business. An American businessman was interested in expanding his commercial building and approached construction company for a budget quote. The architect of the company prepared a plan of the site, which was shown detailed plan proposed expansion in place. And this plan alone turned out to be quite enough for the budget quotation of the project, as well as for the businessman to make a decision according to the GO / NO GO principle.
The advantage of a budget quote is that clients are rarely willing to take on the burden of paying the full cost of an entire set of architectural drawings before they begin to understand the full scope of an upcoming construction/renovation project. And the budget quote helps them weigh the need to fund various add-ons, or provide compensation. additional costs on freight and taxes due to additional business.
In order to provide a quality budget quote for construction or renovation, the contractor needs to have a reasonable idea of the possibility or feasibility of demolishing the old building, know the linear footage of the new steel sheet, provide for the number of internal doors and the level of interior finishes (carpeting, wall coverings, ceiling etc.). It is important that the contractor is able to show all his proposals and related real costs. Only in this case, the customer will have a good idea of the cost of the project and will be able to make a reasonable decision on the feasibility, scope or specification.building / renovation project.
Unlike a budget quote, a contract bid is based on very tight specifications down to the last doorknob and on a complete set of plans. To prepare a contract bid, it is best to hire a space planner to prepare a complete set of detailed drawings and specifications so that potential contractors have no room or time to guess. This item is not a place to save money. A complete set of plans will help you avoid a large number of proposals for construction or repair from contractors. After that, it is desirable to receive proposals from at least three reputable and reliable contractors.
The choice between a budget quotation and a contract bid depends on the price of the project. As construction experts advise, it is best to never run out of construction blueprints and skip building offers from multiple contractors for a choice.

What do tourists say?
Christina (37 years old, Arkhangelsk):
“The building is unusual, there are nice monuments around, it's all there. But something else is striking: there is almost no train noise. You won’t even realize right away that you are at the station. You can talk calmly, you don't have to shout to hear each other when the train is moving. They explained to me: this is due to the fact that the rails do not lie on gravel, but on concrete.
Nikita (43 years old, Tver):
“After Russian train stations, the cleanliness of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof is striking. And the service is top notch, of course. You can contact the staff for any question, they will help, prompt, explain everything. It looks like we have something to borrow from them.
The waiting room is missing. During the day, his absence is not so noticeable: you can sit on a bench, go to shops, take a walk along the neighboring streets. But most of the cafes at the station close at 23.00, and there really is no place to wait for the night train.”
Elena (30 years old, Perm):
“So many things: trains, floors, shops. Getting lost here is a matter of five minutes. The son proved it in practice. Fortunately, there are no these crowds and queues, and we quickly managed to find each other. To relieve stress went to McDonald's. After a bite to eat, we decided to go to the help desk. How they looked into the water! Where else would we know that you can’t immediately run into the train, you first need to validate the ticket right on the platform in a special device?”
Yuri (54 years old, Orel):
“The building feels spacious and free. The elevators offer amazing views of the Reichstag and the surrounding area. Some kind of architecture of the future, honestly! We don't have anything like it! The railroad above the ground - you have to invent it! And this layout of the station in the center? You can watch it for half an hour!
When you admire all this glass-concrete splendor, remember: trains stand on the platform for only 10 minutes! Try to be on time!
Have a good trip!

East Station in Berlin has changed its name several times since its foundation. Under the name "Frankfurt" station existed until 1845, connecting one of the ways in the West of Germany with Frankfurt. Having merged with the Lower Silesian and Brandenburg railways, the junction was renamed the Lower Silesian-Brandenburg, and since 1852 it was called the Silesian.
In 1950, the GDR returned the status of an independent republic, and the station - its former name "Vostochny". At that time, international trains passed through here, connecting the cities of Scandinavia and the Balkan Peninsula, as well as Budapest, Prague and Vienna.
In 1987, the station was renamed again, this time becoming Central. With this name, it existed for almost 10 years, until in 1998 the city authorities named it Ostenbahnhof. Since that time, the purpose of the transport hub has also changed. Soon, work was completed on the construction of the Central Station, which currently receives international flights. Of the nine railway lines, four belong to commuter trains. Trains from Schönefeld Airport also arrive here.
Berlin Central Station
Berlin Central Station is the largest railway station not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. This station began operating in May 2006.
The Central Station was built on the site of the former Lehrt Station, which was destroyed during the Second World War. The building permit was approved in 1992 and started in October 1995.
The construction of the architect Meinhard von Gerkan looks like a multi-level building in which 14 rail lines for various purposes intersect. More than 164 high-speed long-distance trains, just over 300 regional trains and about 600 municipal and suburban trains pass through the station every day. Directly in the station building on 3 floors with a total area of 15,000 square meters there are dozens of eateries and shops.
Until the opening of the Central Station in Berlin, there were several stations at once, but each of them was assigned to a specific direction. Today, the Central Station meets trains coming from anywhere in both Germany and Europe as a whole.
Berlin Central Station (German: Berlin Hauptbahnhof)
Category: BerlinBerlin Central Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof) is the largest railway station not only in the capital, but throughout Germany. Moreover, it is rightfully considered the largest and most modern on the entire European continent. It is with him that the acquaintance with Berlin of that part of the tourists who prefer to travel by train begins. The station building looks so majestic that visitors can’t forget their first impressions of the spectacular picture that appeared before their eyes for a long time - you willy-nilly freeze in amazement ...
On the site of the old Lert Station
The main station of the capital of Germany is located on the banks of the Spree. In this place, there used to be the building of the old Lehrter Bahnhof railway station, destroyed during the Second World War. The idea to build a new railway station in the very center of the city came about shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. There are government offices nearby, but the area itself is sparsely populated. The project of a new modern station in high-tech style was developed by German architect of Baltic origin Meinhard von Gerkan. The station is two-level: the first level is 15 meters below ground level, the second level is 10 meters higher, respectively. During construction, there were tangible difficulties, since the building was erected on a sandy site with a high level of groundwater. It was not easy for the builders and the crossing bridge. In total, the construction of the station lasted fourteen years, from 1992 to 2006.
Benefits of a stacked design
The main glass dome of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof, its total area 85 by 125 sq. meters, was ready already in 2002 (a photovoltaic power plant is integrated into its surface). The grand opening of the new station took place on May 26, 2006. The event was timed to coincide with the World Cup, which was hosted by Germany that year. Two days later, the full operation of the station began - a complex architectural object, which is a multi-storey building made of glass and metal. However, the complexity of the multi-tiered structure, recognized by experts as an ingenious development, manifested itself in tangible benefits for all categories of passengers.
Berlin Central Station has five levels of platforms and fourteen tracks. The station accepts long-distance trains from four directions. There are also two lines of public transport. To combine all this at one station, four new railway bridges had to be built. Every day, 1,600 trains arrive and depart here, including long-distance trains Intercity and Intercityexpress (the latter are just over 200, of which 150 are high-speed). The same number includes S-Bahn city electric trains (about 600 of them), regional electric trains and express trains Regionalbahn and Interregionalexpress (more than 300 trains), RegionalExpress express trains.
The station is the largest and most comfortable
Every passenger feels comfortable at this station, and there is no exaggeration here. There are signs everywhere to help you find the right cash desk, left-luggage offices, and a bathroom. An electronic scoreboard informs about the train schedule, which, by the way, is powered by solar panels located on the roof. Luggage storage "Baggage Center" in the luggage compartment of the station (upper 1st floor, on the east side). But do not look for porters: they are simply not provided here. On the territory of the main railway harbor there is a supermarket, as well as small shops, cozy cafes, bars and restaurants, covering an area of 15 thousand square meters. meters. The station is also a tourist attraction, with hour-long tours of the station every day.
Berlin Central Station opening hours: from 6:00 to 22:00 (on weekdays), from 7:00 to 22:00 (on Saturday and Sunday). At night, it is spectacularly illuminated. You will find ticket vending machines to the left of the entrance, and at the usual ticket offices, they are on the right, the lines do not end. The entire infrastructure of the station is thought out to the smallest detail, there are spacious waiting rooms, the territory is very clean and, which is also important, antisocial individuals are not allowed here. Free Wi-Fi service is provided. Rental companies operate on the ground floor (cars for every taste are at your service).
Address, opening hours, how to get there
The station is located at: Europaplatz, 1, Berlin, Deutschland.
You can get there by S-Bahn train (lines No. 5, 7, 9 and 75) and along the U-Bahn underground metro line U55. Or by bus, routes no. 120, 123, 147, 240 and 245. From the Brandenburg Gate and the Unter den Linden boulevard, the station can be reached on foot in 15 minutes.
