Nha Trang where to withdraw money without commission. The great journey of the four belyaevs
How much money to take in Nha Trang? If you are going to Nha Trang, then be sure to read this post to the end. Today we will not only talk about how much to take money in Nha Trang, but also reveal the topic of money in Vietnam, where to change money in Nha Trang, and also show our budget for a month of residence.
As you already know, we lived for four months in Vietnam, namely in Nha Trang. Therefore, we have sufficient experience on how much money to take in Nha Trang. We will begin to reveal this issue with a story about money in Vietnam.
The currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese dong (VND). Banknotes of various denominations from 100 to 500,000 VND are in circulation.
It is very easy to make a mistake in such a number of zeros, therefore, with each calculation, carefully look through the bills that you give. 10,000 VND can be easily confused with 100,000 and vice versa.
Money in Vietnam is not made of paper, but thin plastic. There are similar bills in different countries Asia, such as Malaysia. This property of money in Vietnam has saved our budget more than once when we got caught in a tropical rain during an excursion or swam in. Paper money would simply rot or be torn.
What currency to take to Vietnam?
You can take almost any freely convertible currency to Vietnam. Nha Trang is full of banks where it can be exchanged. We'll talk about this in the next section. But it is most profitable to take dollars and not just dollars, but bills of $ 100
The VND rate to the dollar has been stable for about 5 years and fluctuates around 21,000 dongs per dollar. Explain guys how so ??? That the crisis does not affect them?
Dollars are accepted almost everywhere. From hotels to corner eatery with cheap rum.
$ 100 banknotes are in special demand. They give the most favorable rate, and sometimes small bills are not taken at all.
If you eat with rubles, then you can change them at or at the branch of the Russian-Vietnamese Bank, but the rate there is simply extortionate, so if you are going to Vietnam, then take dollars.
Where to change money in Nha Trang?
You can change money in Nha Trang at any convenient place. This can be a hotel reception, a travel agency, a shop, a bar, or a classic version - a bank.
The exchange rate is about the same everywhere. In banks, it is slightly lower, but there is almost no risk. For the exchange, you will need a passport. Also to get good course... You need to change as much as possible large amount dollars. However, the principle is the same as in Russia.
In many cases, it is not even necessary to change money. We paid for many excursions for dollars.
If you come to Nha Trang to rest with a card, then you will certainly be interested in the question of where to withdraw money in Nha Trang?
Nha Trang is full of ATMs from various banks. All of them accept cards of Russian banks issued in the VISA and MasterCard payment systems. There will be a separate post about bank cards for travel. Do not forget to subscribe to the news at the end of the article.
The main feature of cash withdrawals is that the maximum withdrawal amount is only 2,000,000 VND (about $ 100). Those. if you need a large amount, you will have to withdraw it several times, and a commission will be charged for each such operation.
The smallest commission that we had was 20,000 dong. This commission is offered by Vietcombank. There are a lot of these green ATMs very similar to our Sberbank in the tourist center of Nha Trang. Watch this video instruction on how to withdraw money in Nha Trang from Vietcombank ATM.
They say that there are ATMs with the ability to withdraw up to 15,000,000 VND at a time and another option without a commission, but they are not in the center of Nha Trang.
In addition, for using the card, you will pay a commission for withdrawing money and converting. Sberbank payment cards are especially disadvantageous in this regard. Visa systems the commission there is higher than that of the card of the same Sberbank, but payment system MasterCard.
How much money to take in Nha Trang?
Now we will share our thoughts on how much money to take in Nha Trang. Let's consider the main items of expenses: housing, transport, food, excursions, massage, shopping.
Accommodation in Nha Trang.
If you do not have a package tour, then you can rent accommodation in Nha Trang on your own. We wrote about this in a separate
The easiest way to book a hotel is through this service. We managed to shoot such a number in Nha Trang for a promotion.
The cost of a room in the hotel starts from US $ 5 per day. The room will have everything you need to relax. Anyway, you will only come here to sleep.
In total, your budget for 10 days in a hotel is $ 50.
You can also rent an apartment. Two weeks will cost you $ 200-250.
There are also a lot of taxis. The cost is quite reasonable. Prices from 8000 VND per km. It all depends on the type of taxi and the distance of the trip.
You can also ride a local analog rickshaw for 40,000 VND.
Total transport costs for 10 days are about $ 70-80.
Food in Nha Trang.
We continue to discuss how much money to take in Nha Trang. And now let's talk about food.
If your food is not included in the price of the voucher, then you have a huge selection of places where you can have a snack.
The cost of food is about the same as in Thailand. Regular cheap fried rice with a piece of meat costs 30,000 VND. They also give him soup for free.
An excellent snack is baguettes with different fillings. The most delicious option was in, but you can also find decent buters in Nha Trang. They cost from 20,000 dongs.
Nha Trang is full of Russian cafes. Here are the approximate prices.
On average, a lunch per person in a cafe costs about VND 120,000. Restaurants, of course, will cost more.
Total for food is about 300,000 dongs per person per day ($ 15) - $ 150.
We wrote in detail about the current prices in Nha Trang and our budget for the winter, islands. The rest is optional.
Alcohol in Nha Trang is very cheap. Beer costs from 10,000 VND per bottle. In clubs, everything is a little more expensive, but if you want, then put aside another $ 100 for this business.
The massage will cost you from VND 100,000 per session. Take the full course right away for 750,000 - 1,000,000 VND.
Total for entertainment for 10 days is about $ 500.
Shopping in Nha Trang.
We have already talked about shopping in Nha Trang in Nha Trang is not the coolest place for shopaholics, but you will have to spend money.
I recommend paying attention to the skin. I bought a very good wallet for quite affordable price... You can also look at the jewelry. There are gold, pearls and silver with different stones. Also, be sure to leave some money for souvenirs. Go to, for example, or to.
So, to summarize, then when asked how much money to take in Nha Trang for two weeks (10 days), then this is about $ 1000. Those. Golden Rule tourist - $ 100 per day and is kept here. This is the normal option.
It is quite possible to keep within $ 500. To do this, you need to reduce the cost of shopping, partying and attend excursions on your own or in a stripped-down format.
Of course, this is a rather subjective analysis of how much money you need to take to Nha Trang. Everyone has different requests. Here it is quite possible to drop even $ 1000 per day. There would be a desire, but there are always options where to spend them.

All the best and always! This article is excitingly highlighting the burning: the use of Vietnamese money (dongs), as well as bank cards in Vietnam, and what can come of it. Since Russian tourists, or, as long as they prefer to carry cash, they often ask questions from the category: what currency is better to take, and how many dongs are in rubles, and rubles in dongs, and how to transfer one to another and vice versa, and where to change. Therefore, let's start with an excursion into the national Vietnamese currency, then we'll talk about the exchange rate of dollars and other currencies for dongs, and then we'll get to bank cards, ATMs, conversion and pitfalls.
About Vietnamese dongs, millionaires and sweet currency
The national currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese dong (đồng ) , the international designation of which is VND. Vietnam also uses the ₫ symbol. There are 10 hao or 100 sous in one dong. But the average tourist does not know about this, because hao and su are not particularly popular. Also in Vietnam we have been tourists twice and lived here twice for six months, and we learned about hao and su from Wikipedia when preparing this article. 😉
As the Vietnamese economy is developing rapidly in last years, and before that inflation was high for a long time, the purchasing power of the dong itself is low. Therefore, banknotes with a large number of zeros are in circulation, as a result of which most of the population of Vietnam is millionaires. Visitors also become them, exchanging the brought currency of other countries for dong, for example, 100 American dollars is equivalent to more than 2 million Vietnamese dongs.
The smallest denomination banknote that we in Vietnam had a chance to hold in our hands - 200 dong. But it is rare enough. Of the popular banknotes, the smallest at face value is 1 thousand dongs, the largest is 500 thousand dongs. Since 2003, abrasion-resistant and relatively moisture-resistant plastic bills have been produced in Vietnam. We have encountered plastic banknotes, starting with a denomination of 10 thousand dongs and larger (they are mostly all plastic), and those smaller than 10 thousand dongs from those we have seen are paper.
Since, in fact, not dongs are in use, but thousands of dongs, locals, as well as foreigners who have lived in Vietnam for a long time, the word “thousand” is sometimes omitted in conversation, just saying “dong”. Or they might say "kilodong". But the same thing in colloquial speech often did not have to hear this, but in the menu of independent cafes or on the price tags in small shops you can see the designation "kđ" or simply "K". For example, the price tag "100 kđ" or "100 K" means 100 thousand dong. Or they can just omit three zeros. For example, the price tag "100" would mean 100 thousand dongs. In supermarkets, restaurants, large cafes, prices are usually prescribed in full, with all zeros.
Suppose you have weighed a product in a supermarket on an accurate scale. And it turned out that the cost of this product, for example, 11.120 dong. How much will you pay after the fact? This is the amount of dong you can pay in one case: through a bank card. If you pay in cash, the cashier will round the amount. But up or down is not always determined by mathematical rules. 😉
Specifically in this example are likely to be rounded down. That is, having given the cashier 12 thousand dongs, you have a fairly high chance of getting 1 thousand dongs as change. But Vietnamese cashiers in supermarkets (at least in Nha Trang, especially in the Nha Trang Center supermarket) have an alternative local currency - candy! Ta-da-da! Sweet for change - what is not an extra reason to visit Vietnam? 😉
In this example, from your 12 thousand dongs, you should get 880 dongs in change, right? If the cashier has a 500 dong bill lying around (not thousands!), Then they will gladly give it to you, accompanied by candy (not always). Or they can give two sweets in exchange for 880 dongs. And they can only give 500 dongs, and 380 will be forgiven. And they can only give one candy. But in our experience, one supermarket candy, after all, is equivalent to the amount from 200 to 500 dongs (not thousands!). The exchange rate for sweet currency is probably determined by the mood of the cashier and the amount of sweets in the nightstand under the cash register at the time of your purchase. By the way, 200 dongs (not thousands!), At the exchange rate at the time of writing, is equivalent to about 50 domestic kopecks.
A pitfall associated with the color of 10, 100, 20, 500 thousand dong bills
It so happens that the color scheme of the 10 thousand dong banknote is very similar to the color scheme of the 100 thousand dong note (they are greenish). The same applies to bills of 20 and 500 thousand dong, respectively (they have a blue tint).
If you are focused, calm and attentive, everything will be in order: you will quickly learn to distinguish between bills. At first, for reliability, count the number of zeros on them. But if you are in a hurry, or they rush you (in a taxi or in the market, for example), there is a risk of confusing large and small banknotes.
Moral: money account is loved everywhere and always, so be careful and focused when shopping.
What currency is more profitable to carry to Vietnam (dollars, euros, rubles, yuan?), The exchange rate of dongs, how to convert dongs to rubles
"And what to carry: dollars, euros, rubles, yuan?" and "How to quickly convert dongs to rubles?" - the most common questions of tourists related to a trip to Vietnam, after questions and. The short answer is this: it is more profitable to carry dollars, moreover, in new large denominations. New ones are blue, large ones are $ 100 and $ 50.
A quick conversion of dongs to rubles for orientation in prices: we discard the sum in dongs from three zeros to the right and multiply by a factor of 2.5 (this is at the rate at the time of the creation of the article!). For example, 10,000 dong is 10 x 2.5 = 25 rubles. However, for simplicity of calculations, many tourists multiply by 3, realizing that in fact they will pay less than they counted. Then 10 thousand dongs ≈ 10 x 3 = 30 rubles (in 2019, taking into account the dollar that has grown to the ruble, it is better to multiply by the coefficient 3).
And how to calculate this same coefficient of conversion of dongs to rubles? It's simple. First, you need to find out the exchange rates, for example, on the exchangeratewidget.com website. Using this converter, we find out that $ 100 is equivalent to 5709 rubles; the same $ 100 is equivalent to VND 2,270,800.
It turns out, 2,270,800 dongs = 5709 rubles. Hence 1 dong = 5709 / 2.270.800 = 0.00251 rubles. Accordingly, 1 thousand dong = 2.5 rubles. Here it is, here is our cherished coefficient!
We remind you that this calculation makes sense if you brought to Vietnam dollars, and in large bills ($ 100 and $ 50) and a new sample, i.e. not older than 1996 since their actual exchange rate does not differ much from the official bank rate indicated on the converter's website. At the time of writing the article, the actual exchange rate at the exchange offices in Nha Trang was 2.266.000 dongs per 100 dollars. Old-style dollars (not blue, if we are talking about a $ 100 bill, but white and green) are changed either at a lower rate, or may not be accepted at all.
Important! Of course, you need to consider at what price you got the dollars that you brought with you, as well as at what rate you can exchange them in a specific exchanger on the spot. If you buy dollars in the Russian Sberbank, you will have to pay 5883 rubles for $ 100 (at the time of the creation of the article), i.e. more than indicated on the converter's website, and when exchanging $ 100 for dong in Vietnam, you will receive less than indicated. The actual calculation will look like this: 1 dong = 5883 / 2.266.000 = 0.002596 rubles, that is, 1 thousand dong = 2.6 rubles. The coefficient has grown! This is another reason, besides convenience, why it is better to multiply by 3 when converting dongs to rubles - exchange rate fluctuations are leveled.
Rubles brought to Vietnam will change by less than favorable rate, although when calculating through a converter, it turns out that the conversion factor is the same as for the dollar. However, in fact, rubles in exchange offices in Vietnam are cheaper, and exchange rate fluctuations are stronger than in American currency... Now rubles in Nha Trang are changed at the rate of 315 - 330 thousand dongs for 1000 rubles, i.e. the conversion factor is from 3 and higher, and for the dollar, we recall, 2.5.
What about the euro? At the current actual exchange rate of Sberbank 100 € = 7067 rubles, the actual exchange rate of the same 100 € in Nha Trang is 2.640.000 dong. Hence, 1 thousand dong = 2.68 rubles, that is, in fact, it is more profitable to carry dollars.
In general, our cumulative experience of traveling in Southeast Asia shows that here the dollar is the most convenient currency for exchange.
Given the sheer number of tourists from China, it's worth assessing whether it's time to stock up on yuan (CNY) when traveling to Vietnam. If you count through a converter, it turns out that there is no difference between the yuan and the dollar. And what in fact? 100 CNY will cost 915.9 rubles, the actual exchange rate of the yuan in Nha Trang is 336,000 dongs for 100 CNY. It turns out that 1 thousand dongs = 2.7 rubles, i.e. it turns out that the yuan is not worth taking to Vietnam yet, the dollar is still more profitable. How long? Wait and see.
How many dongs give for 100 dollars, 1000 rubles, 100 euros, 100 yuan in Nha Trang in 2019
In 2019 in Nha Trang in the jewelry store "Treasures of Angkor" for 100 dollars you will receive 2,329,000 dongs, for 1,000 rubles 326,000 dongs, for 100 euros 2,550,000 dongs, for 100 yuan 330 thousand dongs (as of May). In other exchangers, about which below, there may be a little less or a little more. Note that the dong exchange rate against the dollar fluctuates slightly.
Currency exchange in Nha Trang - where is it better to change
Currency exchange in Nha Trang can be done in a large number of places: from the airport and the reception of your hotel (not the best way) to banks, jewelry stores, pharmacies, travel agencies, supermarkets and similar establishments. In banks, by the way, the exchange rate is not always the most profitable, and they work until five in the evening, as a rule, with a lunch break from 11:30 to 13:30, and rest on weekends.
The most profitable course is considered to be in jewelry stores (for example, in the Treasures of Angkor, Princess jewelery, etc.), although it does not differ so much in travel agencies and Sapphire stores. are given in a separate article. In supermarkets (Lotte Mart, Nha Trang Center, etc.), the rate will be lower, but if necessary, you can exchange here too.
How do they know how much they change dollars in Nha Trang (and another currency too), even when they are in Russia? The actual exchange rate can be viewed on the website of the Russian Information Center (RIC), or in the messages of the Los Nha Trang group, where sometimes lay out the exchange rate in the "Treasures of Angkor", or ask a question through the feedback form on the website of the travel agency Uncle Vanya.
Personally, we preferred to exchange dollars for dongs at the "Treasures of Angkor" on the second line (Hùng Vương street), almost opposite the Galina hotel (mentioned in the article). Next to Treasures, at the intersection with traffic lights, there is the Princess jewelery, where there is also a good course. When Aunt Tony was staying in Nha Trang in May 2018, the currency was changed with her next to where she lived: either in the Sapphire store, which is very close to the hotel entrance, or opposite, in the RIC office.
You can exchange the dongs left after the rest for dollars or rubles at the offices of travel agencies, jewelry stores, exchange offices at the airport. If we remember correctly, "Sapphires" did not do the reverse exchange of dongs for dollars in 2018, perhaps something changed in 2019.
The use of bank cards of Russian banks abroad (for example, Vietnam), conversion, commissions
Non-cash payments have become a part of our life, in connection with which an increasing number of tourists are taking bank cards with them abroad, including to Vietnam. There are two main reasons for this: security (you don't need to carry a lot of cash) or a stash just in case. For those who are accustomed to spending significant amounts on vacation, the card is convenient because the funds on it are not subject to declaration, unlike cash, which must be declared if you import more than 5 thousand US dollars. But on the card when entering Vietnam, there can be any amount allowed by your bank.
Is it possible to pay in Vietnam with a credit card
Paying with a bank card in Vietnam is the easier, the closer the settlement to which you are brought is to civilization. If you decide to make a Bon voyage through the jungles, valleys and mountains of Vietnam, visiting exclusively villages, towns, communities and small towns, be prepared for the fact that you will hardly be able to use a bank card. But in tourist centers and large cities- please.
In Nha Trang, you can pay by credit card at all shopping centers: Nha Trang Center, including its food court mentioned in articles and, Lotte Mart, Big C, Maximark; recently opened a new shopping center VINCOM PLAZA, payment by card in the supermarket located there is provided. Although it is possible that in very small departments of the listed shopping centers it will not work to pay with a card, but in supermarkets on their territory and brand departments it is definitely possible. Shopping centers are marked on our map with yellow markers (layer “ATMs and commerce”). , to return to this paragraph after viewing the map, press "Back" in the browser.
Also jewelry stores, many travel agencies, some cafes and restaurants (so far there are fewer of them than those that serve only in cash), a 777 pharmacy chain, a Sapphire chain of stores, Viet Farm stores (we mentioned them in the article) - everyone will accept payment by card. Note that the small transport agencies mentioned in the article do not always have payment terminals.
In some travel agencies and cafes, when paying by card, they may charge a commission from 3 to 10%, specify when paying.
However, while in Nha Trang, in a huge number of establishments and shops, they prefer cash, not to mention the markets, small coffee houses, "cafe on chairs", trays with smoothies and - keep this in mind. Situations are also possible when some cards are not read by Vietnamese payment terminals, more on that below.
Take dollars or a bank card to Vietnam on vacation or for the winter
We are inclined to believe that in the case of a short trip, for example, on vacation (up to 15 days), it is convenient to have cash dollars with you (which should be kept in the hotel safe!) And part of the funds - on a bank card, just in case. But during a long trip, for example, for the winter, it is better to keep fixed assets on the map, because keeping a large supply of cash in a rented accommodation can be unsafe.
We cannot unambiguously recommend bringing only a bank card to Nha Trang. As stated above, cash will still be needed in a large number of places, i.e. if you bring your card with you, you will still be withdrawing money from the ATM. And below it will be written about the commissions of Vietnamese and Russian banks when cashing out funds through an ATM, as well as about double conversion. If your bank's dollar costs the same both when buying it in the office and when making transactions with a card, then in the case of buying cash in Russia you will pay only for currency, but when cashing out through an ATM in Vietnam - and for currency, and with double conversion, and for the services of two banks, i.e. double commission.
Mandatory action with a bank card before leaving Russia
Before leaving Russia, you be sure to call the Support Service of your bank and ask to establish permission to use the card in Vietnam and other countries, if you are going somewhere along the way. If you plan to fly / move with the purchase of tickets via the Internet, it is better to set the permission "Whole World", since it is not known where the payment servers of the agencies through which these tickets will be purchased are registered - more on this below, in the section about our personal experience. At the same time, specify the rates for cash withdrawal abroad.
The fact is that for the safety of your Money, by default, many maps have permission to use them only in Russia. If you come abroad with such a card and try to use it, the card will be blocked. To unlock, you'll have to call Support, but while in roaming. So call ahead of time before flying on vacation.
If your friends (or friends of friends ... or the second aunt of a great-uncle's ...) were recently abroad, they did not call the bank before flying out, but calmly paid with a card, and “they had nothing for that” - most likely, by default on their card there is a permission "The whole world", which they do not even know about. As you can imagine, this does not mean that the situation is the same with your card. So we do not save time, we call the bank: while you are in Russia it is, in most cases, free of charge.
And yes, by the way, if before the trip you called the bank, the “Whole World” permission was established, and then, already abroad, they decided to transfer a certain amount from one card to another online via Personal Area(or pay via the Internet, for example, for tickets), then, in the case of Sberbank, your card can still be blocked, in the name of your own safety, of course. Other banks may be simpler, but not a fact. Usually this applies to a fairly large amount (such is considered, for example, 15 thousand rubles).
The algorithm by which the card is blocked is unknown even to the employees of the Sberbank Support Service. The official wording is: "If the transaction seems suspicious, the card may be blocked." And the "suspiciousness" of the operation is determined by the system automatically, i.e. Support cannot predict if the card will be blocked or not. So get ready!
Such incidents are described in the section on our personal experience (below). Good news is that if your card was blocked "for suspicious activity", you called (or wrote through your Personal Account) to the Support Service, it was unblocked, then it should not be blocked a second time.
How to withdraw money from a Russian bank card in Vietnam without a Vietnamese bank commission
There are a lot of ATMs of various banks in Vietnam, and, in particular, in Nha Trang there are a lot. However, the Russian tourist, of course, is oppressed by the question of where to withdraw money without a commission, because there are no people who want to feed the banking system, also foreign, at their own expense. Previously, without a commission from the VIETNAM bank, it was possible to withdraw from ATMs Military Bank (MB Bank), TP Bank, with a relatively low commission - at Agribank. Note that this did not cancel the commission of YOUR bank for withdrawing cash from an ATM alien to him.
However, since mid-May 2018, the MV bank began to take commission of 33 thousand dongs for withdrawing cash from their ATMs, and later increased it to 49 thousand dongs. The commission does not depend on the withdrawal amount (at least 800 thousand dongs are withdrawn, at least the maximum amount is 3 million - the commission is the same).
Themselves at one time filmed at the Agribank ATM on the second line at the address 2 Hùng Vương. An employee of the bank said that an additional 2.2% would be charged for the operation. However, the ATM charged 22 thousand dongs for withdrawals and 700 thousand dongs, 1 million dongs, and 1.7 million dongs, kindly prescribing a fee for its services on the screen before confirming the withdrawal of funds. Maximum amount, which can be withdrawn in one operation, according to the same employee, 2 million dong.
Back in the summer of 2018, the TP bank ATM (whose address on Google maps is the same as that of MB bank, 9 Le Thanh Ton) did not take a commission. The maximum amount to be withdrawn here is either 3 million dongs, or even 5 million. However, according to reports in Anna Los's group, in the winter of 2019 he began to take a commission of 33 thousand dongs.
This means that now we do not know an ATM in Nha Trang, where you can withdraw money without a Vietnamese bank commission. There is a method that allows you to cash out without a commission, about it below, in the section about Lifehack, but it is not associated with an ATM. Access to the secret - after passing the test. 😉
In theory, Vietnam Russian Joint Venture Bank (VRB, Vietnam-Russian Bank) should have a low commission, but the branch of this bank could not answer the question about the commission, and from the Kukuruza card that we use, a VRB ATM in the Gorky Park area (now Central Park) refused to issue cash. But with other cards, perhaps everything will work out. If you, about the reader, used this ATM, write in the comments, please, which card was withdrawn from, and whether there was a commission.
One of the ATMs of the MV Bank at 9 Lê Thánh Tôn in the center of Nha Trang
Photo from google maps, photographer Trí Nguyên.
Nevertheless, we leave information about MB Bank ATMs in the article, since they are conveniently located for many tourists. They usually have a white MB abbreviation with a red star on a blue background. You can usually withdraw no more than 3 million dongs at a time.
MV Bank ATMs are marked with maroon markers on our map (layer "ATMs and Trade"). For convenience, open the map menu by clicking on the icon in its upper left corner. Or open the map in a new window by clicking on the icon in its upper right corner.
Life hack: if you need small bills, try withdrawing cash from an ATM in the European Quarter. We even managed to remove 10 thousand dong bills. At an ATM in the city center (the one in the photo above), larger bills are loaded, often no smaller than 100 thousand dongs.
Note that in Vietnamese ATMs you can only withdraw Vietnamese dongs... And no other currency. If you need to withdraw dollars from the card for something, welcome to the bank. And most likely, you will first be given dongs in order to exchange them for dollars later.
Addresses of MB Bank ATMs in various cities of Vietnam
On the Military Bank website you can see list of Military Bank (MB Bank) ATMs in various cities of Vietnam, including Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh, with their addresses. The list is at the bottom of the page, under the many lines of Home-Network-ATM. In the PROVINCE / DISTRICTS field, where the default is All, select the city or province you need.
For example, in this list of cities and towns, Nha Trang is absent, but there is the province of Khanh Hoa (Khánh Hòa). We select it, we get a list of ATMs. Taking a closer look, we notice that ATMs of both Nha Trang and the town of Cam Ranh are collected here, which we mentioned in the article about After such a selection, the second field, next to PROVINCE / DISTRICTS, began to contain, in addition to the All item, the names of these cities: Thành phố Nha Trang, Thành phố Cam Ranh. That is, if the list of ATMs in a certain province is large, you can make an additional selection for a specific locality. And if not, then it will do.
By analogy with Nha Trang, in the drop-down list from the PROVINCE / DISTRICTS field you will not find cities (Hội An) or Hue (Huế) very remarkable from a historical point of view, as well as Dalat, adored by tourists. But you will find the provinces of Quảng Nam, Thừa Thiên - Huế and Lam Dong (Lâm Đồng). As you may have guessed, by choosing Quảng Nam, you will receive a list of ATMs, including in the glorious Hoain, by choosing Thừa Thiên - Huế - a list of ATMs, including in Hue, which in ancient times was the capital of Vietnam, by choosing Lâm Đồng, you will find out , where there are Military Bank ATMs in Dalat (and there are no MB Bank ATMs in the rest of this province). There are several articles about Dalat in our blog:
- before ,
- answers to ,
- what is included in,
- how is it going
- about the description and prices.
For those wishing to visit other Vietnamese cities without resorting to the services of travel agencies, our article, as well as the form of buying bus tickets online (we recommend that you look first), will help you.

How to withdraw money from ATMs in Vietnam (for example, MB Bank)
It is not difficult to withdraw money from an ATM in Vietnam, since Vietnamese ATMs work in the same way as Russian ones. Here short instruction using the example of MB Bank ATMs (if we remember correctly):
- Insert the card into the ATM.
- Select language (English).
- Enter your PIN.
- Choose Rút tiền (translated from Vietnamese it means “withdraw money.” Why in Vietnamese, if you chose English? We have no idea!).
- Select Current account (translated as "current account").
- Select from the amounts offered on the screen or press the button opposite to Others and enter the amount you need from the keyboard, but not more than 3 million dongs (recall, at an ATM in the city center, at 9 Lê Thánh Tôn, it is usually better to enter the amounts multiples of 50 thousand dongs or 100 thousand dongs; at an ATM in the European Quarter at 78 Tuệ Tĩnh you can try to withdraw an amount in multiples of 10 thousand dongs).
- To receive a check, click Yes, otherwise No.
The ATM is designed in such a way that it will not always be possible to report specific errors, it will simply return the card (it was so; it is possible that something has changed now). If you are unable to withdraw 3 million VND, try to rent a smaller one, for example 2 million VND. If you indicated an amount that is a multiple of, for example, 50 thousand dongs, and the ATM returns the card, try specifying the amount of a higher multiple, for example, 100 or 500 thousand dongs.
What to do if the Vietnamese ATM does not dispense cash, and the money is not debited from the card account
It so happens that ATMs in Vietnam do not issue the requested amount. The same thing happens in Russia and in any other country in the world. So, if an ATM in Nha Trang or another Vietnamese city did not issue money, and the money was not debited from the card account, then there may be several options:
- your card is blocked by your bank (for example, because you neglected our advice and did not call Customer Service before leaving to issue a permit for Vietnam);
- there are not enough funds on your card;
- there are not enough funds in the ATM;
- you request an amount that exceeds the limit for issuing this ATM (for example, ask the ATM for 3 million dongs, and it can issue a maximum of 2 million dongs);
- you are asking for an amount that is not multiple of the bills that are loaded into the ATM (for example, ask for 100 thousand dongs, but only 500 thousand dong bills are left in the ATM).
Accordingly, if you are trying to withdraw a small amount, increase it (to get larger bills that may be in the ATM), and if you are trying to withdraw a large amount, decrease it (to get into the issuance limit of this ATM).
Still, in theory, there may be a situation when small bills are loaded into the ATM, and you want to withdraw a large amount. Then the smart machine simply cannot load all the necessary bills into the dispensing slot - the stack is too thick. In this case, you need to reduce the requested amount. In practice, for the entire period of using bank cards in Russia, we got into such a situation only once. In Vietnam, they have never encountered.
If all else fails, look for another bank's ATM. If it does not work there either, check the card through the Personal Account or mobile app or call the Support Service of your Russian bank.
If after the first failure at the ATM you somehow realized that the card was still blocked by your bank - call the Support Service to unblock it, and be prepared for verification questions from the operator. You may need the details of the passport for which the card is issued. You can also write to support through your Personal Account - save on roaming, but you will have to wait for an answer, perhaps up to a day. But you don't have to confirm your identity: the fact of contacting through your Personal Account is considered sufficient to confirm that you are you.
What to do if the ATM in Vietnam did not issue money, but the funds were debited from the card account, or the card is seized by the ATM
So, you are standing in front of a Vietnamese ATM, which insidiously did not give out money, but at the same time you received an SMS notifying that something was debited from the card account. Or this ATM took the card, but does not return it back.
What would you do in such a situation while in Russia? That's right, they would take a check, write down the ATM number and call the Support Service or contact the bank's office if an ATM is in the immediate vicinity. Vietnamese banking system works according to the same principles as the Russian one.
First, take a check or something similar from an ATM, if possible. Second, write down (photograph) the ATM number, which should be indicated on its front top panel.
Further, if we are talking about debiting from an account, first it is better to make sure that the debiting of funds did not take place on the side of a Russian bank. Call the Support Service or write there through your Personal Account. The Vietnamese bank will most likely start nodding in the direction of the Russian bank before checking the write-off at home, so it's better to sort it out yourself through support first. Let's say Russian Service support responded that the problem is on the side of the Vietnamese bank.
And now the most interesting part: the language barrier. You can get around it in different ways.
If the ATM is near a bank office and you speak English, you can try to find an English-speaking employee in that office, explain the situation, and follow their instructions. As our practice has shown, in large offices (MB bank, Vietcombank, Agribank, mentioned in this article), at least one person is sure to spit in English (in the sense of speaking).
If everything is not easy with English, you can try to find a common language with bank employees through a translator on your phone (Google Translate, for example).
The most reliable option is to find a Russian-speaking Vietnamese person who can act as a translator either when communicating in the office of a Vietnamese bank, or when you call its Support Service if they are forwarded there from the office.
Where to find a Vietnamese in Nha Trang who will help a Russian tourist in the difficult task of communicating with bank employees? We know that I published information that their offices can be approached with such requests for help, because they have Russian-speaking Vietnamese employees (help was offered free of charge). We believe that other travel agencies can also meet halfway, is in a separate article.

About Vietnamese money, bank cards in Vietnam, pitfalls associated with them, as well as ATMs in Nha Trang, commissions and double conversion: 4 comments
In this article I will tell you about which ATMs in Fukuoka can you withdraw money without commission or with minimum commission ... Updated data on banks in March 2019. In addition, from the article you will learn where it is better to change dollars and euros, and whether it is worth taking them with you to Vietnam at all. And also about stability and exchange rates
Let's go directly to banks, ATMs and fees. I'll start with the most positive banks that do not take commissions.
Fukuoka ATMs where you can withdraw money without commission in Vietnam
You need to understand that commissions are different:
- Commission of someone else's bank for issuing cash from your card
- Your bank's commission for dispensing cash at someone else's ATM
- Conversion fees, cross-border payment, payment system fees
In this article it comes exactly about the first commission - commissions of someone else's (Vietnamese) bank... That is, about the amounts that will or will not be charged by local ATMs in Fukuoka. What commission your bank will require is another story. For example, the one I use helps me withdraw cash without commission.
Low commission ATMs in Fukuoka
Unfortunately, all three banks, which I wrote about above, are not in the tourist area. Especially to get to them by taxi at a price of 30,000 dongs, in order to save 20,000 - 30,000 dongs commission is not very cost-effective. A , even if you have category A rights so it's worth considering the more affordable ATMs:
Cash withdrawal from ATM in Vietnam
When withdrawing money through an ATM in Fukuoka and just Asia, you need to remember a few nuances and foreign words. The sequence may differ slightly, but, as a rule, all points are present. So:
ATMs with high fees for withdrawing from foreign cards
It was not possible to make friends with these ATMs, despite the fact that they are quite popular among the Vietnamese. The same Vietcombank allows you to make a local payment or transfer without a commission, as almost every local resident has,
An important point! For holders of multicurrency cards with a dong account, no commission is charged in most Vietnamese banks. A multicurrency account can be created, for example, on the Tinkoff Black card. In this case, the loss will go only when transferring rubles to dongs at the bank's rate.
I will probably stop at this about ATMs. It's time to move on to other equally interesting topics, for example, the choice between bank cards and cash.
Bank card with you to Phu Quoc Island
In my opinion, it is better to keep the bulk of your vacation money on your bank card or account. But it is important to remember the following points:
- Abroad, it is better to have cards of different payment systems and Master Card, and Visa... For example didn't work at all with Visa cards, and in March I do not always accept MasterCard
- Your bank may charge a commission for cash withdrawals abroad... On this commission, you can lose from 100 rubles to several percent of the withdrawal amount. Now many banks allow starting from a certain amount, for example, from 3000 rubles.
- Be sure to warn your bank about your upcoming trip by calling there while still in Russia. This is necessary so that the security system of your bank does not block the card, doubting the honesty of a foreign transaction. It will be unpleasant to find out at the time of payment that the card is blocked and that you need to call, spend money from your phone while roaming, or even return to Russia to prove your involvement in your own money.
- The phone number associated with the card must always be available. Put money there for emergencies on the card, so that if you need it, the bank can call you or just check your withdrawals or payments by messages.
- Withdrawing from a bank ruble card foreign currency, for example, dongs, you will most likely lose 1.5-3% of money on conversion. Dongs to dollars at the exchange rate of the payment system. Dollars to rubles at the rate of your bank
- Do not forget that in Vietnam, when you withdraw cash from a card the local bank can also withdraw its commission it ranges from 1.5% to 5%.
Cash in Vietnam on Phu Quoc Island - what to take in dollars or euros
In Vietnam, as well as throughout Asia, dollars are widely used. Although you can't buy anything on them, it's very easy to exchange them for local currency at a good rate. Such a story will not work with rubles. Therefore, either carry currency (dollars and euros), or rubles on a bank card. At the same time, one must always proceed from the fact that it is not always possible to find an ATM in Asia to withdraw money from a card. There are ATM machines everywhere on Phu Quoc Island. There are quite a few of them, but not all of them give out money without a commission. Well, do not forget about the risks of using bank cards:
- the bank will not issue money
- ATM will swallow your card
- your bank will block the card
- you just lose it
Therefore, many people prefer to take cash. The easiest way to change dollars on the island is: shops, pharmacies, travel agencies, jewelers and, of course, Fukuoka banks - they can easily exchange your dollars for Vietnamese dongs. That's just the hotel guide will lie to you that the best rate on the island is VND 2,250,000 for $ 100. In any other place, even in your hotel, the rate will be 2 300 000 VND, and in banks the total is higher.
Euros on the island are also changed at a good rate, but mostly in banks. In general, if you live not far from the bank, it is better to exchange your currency there.
About the exchange rate of Currency on Fukouk
When bringing dollars, do not forget that it is beneficial only if you receive your salary in dollars. Otherwise, there is a big loss on conversion: first, buy dollars in rubles in your country, and then sell dollars in Vietnam. In both cases, there is a small loss of money. By the way, if you get euros, then you can safely take them too, the course on the island is quite normal. So remember:
- There is always a good course here on the island. For $ 1 they will give 23,000 - 23,100 dongs. You can change them not only at the bank, but also in local jewelry stores and hotels without fear of being deceived or slipped into fakes, no matter how frightened the hotel guide may frighten you. Sometimes in jewelry there are best deals currency exchange
- If bank card on the spot and you still have bucks, it is better to hide them in a secluded place for a rainy day, and pay or withdraw money from a bank card
- Please note that a good course is offered in Ho Chi Minh City, although we did not know about it. Out of habit, they did not trust the airport. Therefore, before arriving, take a look current rate Vietnamese dong to the dollar, and you will find your bearings on the spot.
As for me, the easiest way to change money is in the bank.

How to profitably withdraw money from ATMs in Vietnam
MB Bank ATMs in Vietnam
As we already said, almost all Vietnamese ATMs charge a commission. For example, the military bank MB Bank, where the commission for withdrawing cash is 5,000 VND and a one-time withdrawal amount of up to 5,000,000 VND. And, pay attention, in the event that you request a balance, a commission is also charged for this service.

It is easier and more profitable to withdraw money in Vietnam from a Sberbank ruble card at an ATM. Also in Vietnam, you can withdraw money from a bank, like in Thailand, but this is an unprofitable way. Commission for withdrawal from ATM 20-50 thousand dong. You can withdraw cash in Vietnam only in Vietnamese Dong (VND).
ATM
In Vietnam, withdrawing cash from an ATM is the easiest and most profitable way. ATMs are designated ATM, they issue money only in local currency... ATMs have a withdrawal limit - usually 2-3 million VND (100-150 $). ATM Citibank can issue up to 5 million VND per withdrawal, but we did not come across such in Nha Trang.
To cash out more money, you will have to shoot again 2-3 million. For example, if you need to withdraw 10 million dongs, you will have to withdraw 3 times for 3 million and 1 time to withdraw 1 million.
Almost all Vietnamese ATMs charge a small fee for each transaction. Usually 20-50 thousand dongs (1-2 $) depending on the bank. Usually, before issuing money, the ATM writes what the commission will be. Also, the commission is written off by Sberbank for issuing money in another country and converting the ruble-dollar-dong.
What ATMs to withdraw money from in Nha Trang
In Nha Trang, we usually rent from MB bank or Agribank. The MB used to have no commission, but now it is 30 thousand dongs. In Agribank, the commission is 22 thousand dongs for each withdrawal. The money withdrawal limit is 3 million (~ $ 150). Also cashed out a couple of times at Vietcombank, a commission of 20 thousand for withdrawals, a limit of 2 million (~ $ 100).
If you are relaxing on the island, then withdraw money only in Agribank. Since this is the only ATM in Fukuoka that takes a flat fee of 22 thousand VND, all other ATMs are a percentage of the withdrawal amount.
Where can I book a transfer from the airport?
We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online, paid with a card. We were greeted at the airport with a sign with our name. Drove to the hotel in a comfortable car. We have already talked about their experience in this article.
ATM MB-bank
Checked personally: MB Bank ATMs (Military bank) do not take a commission. - is no longer relevant. In the MB, the bank takes a commission of 30 thousand dongs. The limit for 1 withdrawal is 3 million dongs ($ 150) from the ruble card of Sberbank. Feel free to shoot via MB. There are several such ATMs in Nha Trang, I give you the coordinates, where in Nha Trang the MB-Bank ATM, in which I myself have repeatedly withdrawn cash, is on the corner opposite the Starlet Hotel.
Coordinates: 12.231316, 109.195852

What needs to be done so that the card is not blocked in Vietnam
Before flying to Vietnam, or just before withdrawing money in Vietnam, if you have not already done so, you need to go to the online bank and find the section with foreign travel. Place Vietnam country and travel dates there.
If you have Sberbank or do not have such a service in the Internet bank, then you need to call your bank and say from what date to what date you are in Vietnam and that you will use the card there. Sberbank phone number + 7-495-500-00-05. Please request to enable "Special Mode" for Vietnam.
Bank phone number is listed on back side cards. You will need to give your passport number and registration address, as well as the code word. After that, the card will definitely not be blocked and you will be able to withdraw money from an ATM and pay with a card in supermarkets.
To call from Vietnam to Russia, use a local SIM card, as roaming in Vietnam will cost a pretty penny, and local communication very cheap.
Bank
In Vietnam, you can withdraw money from the bank through a teller, in the same way. However, unlike Ty, this method is the most unprofitable, since you have to pay a large commission of 2% of the amount. This is not counting the commission of Sberbank. A passport is required to cash out at a bank.
Why it is not profitable to withdraw money in Vietnam through a bank
In the early days, out of inexperience, we decided to try to withdraw from the bank. On the Internet, there is practically no information on withdrawing money in Vietnam, Russian consultants in travel agencies also cannot say anything sensible, since everyone uses local cards.
So we went to get the cash from the bank. It's good that they took it off small amount- 3 million dongs ($ 150). The bank wrote off a commission of 90 thousand dongs from three lemons + Sberbank took another 100-150 rubles. And the teller did not even warn about the predatory commission of her bank ...
Next time we went to another bank in Nha Trang to clarify which would be more profitable, withdraw 10 million dongs at once at the bank, paying one commission, or use the ATM 3 times, withdrawing 3 million and paying commissions for each withdrawal. For ease of understanding, I wrote on a piece of paper what we need.
The operator came across a sensible one and explained everything to us. Withdrawing 10 million from the bank, we will pay a commission of 200 thousand dongs, and withdrawing 3 times for 3 million, the commission will be 60 thousand dong (20 * 3).
With such commissions, it is more profitable to withdraw from an ATM, rather than from a bank.
Thus, we found out that it is more profitable to withdraw money in Vietnam at an ATM, and not at a bank. ATMs have a withdrawal limit, usually only 2-3 million dongs (100-150 $).
If you cannot withdraw money, you need to call Sberbank and turn on "Special mode". You do not need to open a foreign currency account to pay in stores or withdraw money. You can withdraw cash from an ATM with any debit ruble Mastercard cards or Sberbank Visa or any other bank.
